A late newsletter with some Coronation news that was just released by the Palace - And did we ever need it!
First: The Coronation Invitation has been Released!
It is a stunning, yet simple invitation, with the perfect symbolism for this King, Charles III. The palace statement included these details:
“Central to the design is the motif of the Green Man, an ancient figure from British folklore, symbolic of spring and rebirth, to celebrate the new reign.”
A gorgeous British wildflower meadow borders the invitation, and the attention to detail is even found here:
“Flowers appear in groupings of three, signifying The King becoming the third monarch of his name.”
And, “A lion, a unicorn and a boar – taken from the coats of arms of the Monarch and Her Majesty’s father, Major Bruce Shand – can be seen amongst the flowers.”
What a personal detail! I cannot think of a more fitting invitation for King Charles III and Queen Camilla, it is just gorgeous.
Next: Goodbye Consort, Hello Queen Camilla!
As you can see on the invitation, the clumsy “Consort” handle is gone, and, like the spouses of Kings before her, Camilla will be known simply as Her Majesty The Queen, or Her Majesty Queen Camilla.
I, for one, am thrilled by this!
A Future King is a Page of Honour!
HRH Prince George of Wales, eldest son and heir of The Prince of Wales, will be one of The King’s four Pages of Honour.
Rebecaa English tweeted: “A Kensington Palace spokesperson tells me: ‘We’re all very excited about Prince George’s role in the Coronation, it will be an incredibly special moment.’
The King and Queen will each have four Pages, and a lovely family touch for The Queen as her grandchildren take on that role.
“The King’s Pages of Honour will be His Royal Highness Prince George of Wales, Lord Oliver Cholmondeley, Master Nicholas Barclay and Master Ralph Tollemache.
The Queen Consort’s Pages of Honour will be Her Majesty’s grandsons, Master Gus and Master Louis Lopes and Master Freddy Parker Bowles, and Her Majesty’s great-nephew, Master Arthur Elliot.”
Remember, I’m sure it is going to be an incredibly overwhelming day for The King and Queen, and it will no doubt give Queen Camilla enormous comfort to see her family close by, supporting her.
I think this is another lovely, inclusive touch for a modern blended family!
Finally - A Striking new photo of King Charles and Queen Camilla!
We have just about four weeks to go now! And there has been some grumbling online about the day, based on pure speculation.
A personal note: I would say to everyone, to relax and enjoy this! This is truly living history, the Coronation will be a spectacular event. I plan to soak up every second and I hope you do as well!
Let me know what you think about the Coronation news and thanks, as always, for reading!
Yes that’s it :) Lovely photo.
Gorgeous invitation! Happy news about George :) Who are the other King’s pages, will have to look them up. And I saw a lovely photo portrait of the King standing amidst flowers—maybe at Highgrove but it also might have been the same session as the photo you posted.
